what's going on?

i haven't written here in a minute, son!
i have been quite busy being on break from school and having and awesome time with J, who has in this past month become my boyfriend. it's quite weird to say, but feels good at the same time. yay!

i have also been blogging a bit over at DIM MAK, but i had to take a break from that for a bit cos they had a conniption about a post i wrote about MSTRKRFT. i said that no one cared about them anymore cos, well, they don't...ha!
evidently, that very week i wrote that, DIM MAK signed them onto their label - lucky me!
they emailed me a very nice email, but i guess they also emailed sarah. she texted me to tell me i need to change the post cos they were emailing her that 'her friend was writing about irrelevant shit'. irrelevant?!
i can't think of anything more irrelevant than DJ AM taking pictures of bottles of red bull or him in new zealand watching the lakers game and posting the pictures. i put up a picture of my friend and had, "go celtics!" as the subject.
i guess they considered that irrelevant, too, cos they deleted my MSTRKRFT post & the go celtics post.

evidently, i have not made enough of a name for myself to talk about not liking a band that no one new was on DIM MAK. sarah stood up for me, so i now i have the "freedom to blog", so i will just keep talking shit about movies and talking about my friends' bands, and hopefully, they don't delete anything else...

my myspace profile tracker has indicated that someone in Ossining, NY viewed me.
so, for those of you not in the know, Ossining, NY houses a state prison known for being extremely violent, like, inmates-killing-guards-type violent, & it has been nicknamed 'sing sing'. i am pretty sure that this place is still active, & if it is, then there are some inmates that be peepin' my myspace profile!
whoa! my popularity must be soaring if even those who are incarcerated have heard of me!
just kidding.

a few weeks ago, my friend, sarah morrison, got me connected with steve aoki, so that i could blog for his record label, Dim Mak. basically, i can talk about whatever i want, but mostly i will be talking trash and praising local bands & other shows i see here in seattle. also, i will discuss movies and televsion, from time to time.
in fact, my first post over there is my brief and relatively boring review of the Sex and the City movie.

i was Ichatting with my friend, sarah morrison, and we were both drinking. she went "away" cos she had to go write about being famous or something. i am fucking babbling over the interweb, and she's making money for writing drunk.

how can i make this my occupation? i could talk smack about celebrities and purses and how fucked up steve aoki is, right?

maybe not cos i am not LA-cultured, but Nylon Magazine & Missbehave Magazine need to hear my voice.

today, is my official birthday, & boy, am i TIRED! normally, i would not want to just stay in an order a pizza on my birthday, but this weekend was exhausting!

this weekend was what i like to call the 'birthday-palooza aught eight!' because my friend, neal, that i grew up with in NY & shared an apartment with in Boston, visited thursday thru today. i haven't seen him since 2003, and that was only for a few hours. it was awesome!

his birthday was thursday, may 1st, and from the moment he landed, at dinner time thursday, it was non-stop eating, drinking, reminiscing, fun and laughter!

dinner at Cafe Campagne & my favorite restaurant in seattle, Lark; lots of drinking, and hardly any sleep.

i have been calling 2008 "the year of reunions". so far, i have seen my friend, olivia [who i hadn't seen since 2002], in NYC in march, and neal this weekend. my hope is to make it to NH in august to go to pia's wedding and see some other boston friends who also haven't seen me since i moved in 2002.

life is good, & i am tired...

my birthday is in 1 week!

i think that i, more than most people, LOVE my birthday! it's the only day of the year that i get to do whatever i want and no one can object; they just have to go along with it.

this year, an old friend of mine, neal, is visiting from SLC. we knew each other in high school back in rochester, NY, and even roommated in boston for a year. also, his mom was my french teacher in high school.

our birthdays are very close to one another's. his may 1; mine may 4.

this is a little wish list that won't be fulfilled completely, but a girl can dream:

>~~brown boots that are nearly knee-high and fit around my relatively skinny calfs [my legs are always knocking around in them like they are wellingtons...]~~ Done!

>a new pair of hip, not too expensive sunglasses.

>~~a pair of jeans that actually fit [i have lost some weight over the last year, & seriously, all of my pants are too big.]~~ Done!

>i need a toaster oven, but things like this aren't really good birthday prezzies.

>a manicure/~~pedicure~~ [this and the jeans i will most probably be getting myself.] Done!

and lastly:

QotD: Define Cheating

ooooh, this is a good one!
when i was 21, i had a very serious boyfriend, mark, in whom i had lost interest. a boy that i had a secret crush on, andy, turned out to have a crush on me, too, so one night we went out for drinks. he drove me home, and as i was exiting his car, we kissed. ok- we made out!
i went up to my apartment, and mark had been waiting for me, but had just left cos he had been waiting for hours. the next day, the guilt ate away at me all day, and by the afternoon, i had to tell him.
we broke up, not cos i cheated, but because the fact that i was even attracted to someone enough to do anything physical must mean that our relationship was not in a good state. also, i was leaving in 2 months for seattle. [this was supposed to only be for 6 months, and i would return to boston; this did not happen, as i am in seattle still, 6 years later.]
we would talk about what happened with andy during the few months i had left in boston, and even after i moved here, and he always said, "you cheated on me!". i wasn't sure how much i agreed that i had actually cheated. is kissing someone and telling your s/o, within 12 hours, cheating? doesn't cheating involve a high-level of dishonesty, and perhaps, sneaking around? are there many levels of cheating and making out is just one of the first levels? or is it considered cheating just having a crush on someone?
i have honestly felt just as shitty, as if he'd cheated, when i found out a different man i loved, many years later, here in seattle, had been lying to me the entire time we were together. he wasn't lying about anything too serious, but the fact that he had a pathological web of lies that he had to keep track of made me feel as though i was betrayed beyond belief. although he never actually "cheated", he may as well have, as my ability to trust (him) was gone.
